Review of National Strategy for Community Justice – Consultation

The Scottish Government have published a written consultation to support the statutory review of the National Strategy for Community Justice.

This consultation seeks views, particularly from community justice partner organisations and stakeholders, on the current national strategy, which was published in June 2022. It aims to determine respondents’ views on:

  • Whether the strategy’s current scope is appropriate or not
  • The impact of the strategy
  • The usefulness of the aims and priority actions
  • The elements of the strategy that are considered most and least useful
  • The future priorities for community justice.

As part of the statutory review, responses will be used to better understand the national strategy’s suitability and identify any areas for improvement.

The consultation will run for a period of 8 weeks, closing on Thursday 20 August, and we would encourage partners to submit a response.

Further engagement with partners and stakeholders on a potential new, revised strategy will take place beyond August. This will include workshops with specific themes and areas of focus as well as joint activities with Community Justice Scotland, who will be undertaking a separate review of the Community Justice Performance Framework. Further details of these workshops will be shared shortly.
