The Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 states that we should also publish information on the consultation and engagement we carried out as part of developing our community justice plan. This is called a Participation Statement.
Who are we talking about?
Our Community Justice Plan – Beginnings, Belonging, Belief – is for all of those affected by crime. That includes people involved in offending, their families, victims, communities and those working in the justice system.
We understand that all of these people are part of our community, and that in reality a single person can have many different experiences.
For example a person may be a victim of crime but also have committed a crime. Or a person may work in the justice system, but also be a family member of someone involved in offending.
