COSLA and the Scottish Government have launched an Understanding Hate Crime Toolkit designed to support local authorities in tackling hate crime and promoting community cohesion.
The toolkit provides local authorities with information on hate crime and its impact, hate crime legislation, hate crime and the public sector equality duty, hate crime reporting, as well as an annex of local authority best practice examples. The toolkit was informed through engagement with a range of local authority stakeholders and is for use by all council staff.
A statement from COSLA’s Community Wellbeing Spokesperson, Councillor Maureen Chalmers on the toolkit can be viewed in our news release here.
