Families Outside training is suitable for professionals from any sector who want to feel more confident when supporting families affected by imprisonment in their own role – previous sessions have been well attended by education professionals, social workers and those in the third sector.

By the end of the training session, participants should be able to:
- Better understand the impact of imprisonment on children and families, including the most common issues facing families
- Give examples of how a family might be affected at each stage of the criminal justice process
- Apply their knowledge when supporting families affected by imprisonment and feel confident when supporting them

The training modules incorporate a mix of learning styles, and provides opportunities to interact with other participants from different professional backgrounds and sectors. Interaction is encouraged, in smaller breakout room discussions and whole group discussions.
